Zurich Servers Offline

Connectivity to our Zurich data center has broken down, leading to limited Wuala functionality (e.g. no new accounts can be created). We have no estimate on when this will be resolved.

Everything should be up and running normally again. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Tonight, from approximately 01:30 to 06:58, Wuala wasn't available for many users. This was caused by an error in our monitoring system and not detected until early in the morning due to suboptimal processes and a human error related to yesterdays network problems in the data center. We will take measures to prevent this in future. If you have been affected by this issue, please write to support@wuala.com and we provide you with 2 GB of free extra storage.

Reason for downtime is a power failure due to malfunction. Redundant standby current immediately kicked in, but was not distributed evenly to all circuits as should have happened. They are currently working on fixing that issue. We will keep you updated.

Some of our Wuala services (new Account creation, Web API) are offline due to networking problems at one of our sites. Our hosting partner is currently working on resolving the issue.

Metadata saving problem

Due to an HW-issue with one of our core servers that handles new meta data storage in Wuala, a small number of users may be unable to currently save/update metadata information on files stored in Wuala. We will keep you updated, as soon as the service is back online again.

Web Download Problems

From roughly 3:30 to 6:30, downloading shared files from the web site did not work properly any more. These downloads still worked using the Wuala client.

Small file access problem

Starting at 16:00 CEST, some users may experience difficulties to download/upload small files (up to 300kb) from/to Wuala. The root cause has been identified and we are working to resolve the issue.

2011-10-23, 11:05: Due to a partial power outage in one of our data centers, Wuala may currently have problems when uploading or downloading files.

12:00: All download problems could be resolved. For about 10% of all small files (<300kB), Wuala remains in read-only mode.

Due to an administrative misunderstanding, one of our servers has been taken offline. As a consequence, write access got suspended for a small fraction of our users for approximately 30 minutes, starting 10:15 a.m. CET.

Apparently, one of our datacenters reports is under a DDOS attack which affects availability of Wuala and causes connection problems. We have no estimate when the problem will be resolved.

Connection problems have been partially resolved. You can still experience some higher waiting time than normal in Wuala because of recent events. Datacenters maintainer is working on resolving the issue.

Small file upload problem

Starting at 19:30 CEST, problems started to appear with the upload of files up to 300kb. The root cause has been identified and will be resolved within an hour.

One of Wuala's backend databases reported a problem. It will take approximately until 17:00 CET to restore it. Affected are some uploads of large files.
